Maine Connections Academy Ranks as #1 Charter Middle School in Maine
Scarborough, ME – Maine Connections Academy, the state’s first online public charter school serving grades 7-12, ranked 7th out of 126 for high schools, #1 for Charter Middle Schools in Maine, and 11th Middle School out of 334 for middle school in the state, according to a new report by U.S. News & World Report.
The report analyzed schools based on their performance on state-required tests, graduation and how well they prepare their students for high school and university.
Maine Connections Academy, which serves approximately 500 students across the state, was awarded this spot in the rankings partly because of strong test results – 92% of students scored at or above the proficiency level for math and 90% for reading, according to the report.
“We are very proud of our accomplishments and this latest recognition from US News and World Report,” Principal Walter Wallace said. “The strong connection we build between our school and the families we serve, along our students' hard work and persistence, are certainly working well for our learners all across Maine.”
U.S. News analyzed more than 103,369 pre-K, elementary, and middle schools and 17,655 high schools across the country for this year’s rankings.
